Citrus Glaze

A simple powdered sugar glaze is plain and sweet but with the addition of  lemon and orange gives it a little tartness with the fragrance and flavor of fresh citrus.  It is a great addition to a cake or cookie, just in time for Summer.  If your glaze looks a little runny you can add more powdered sugar, whisking it in small amounts until you get the consistency you want.  If you go overboard on the sugar and it is too thick, add a very tiny amount of Orange or Lemon Juice, little by little, to thin it.  Remember to whisk it right before you pour it over your cooled cookies or baked items.  The glaze will harden if it is left untouched and when it cools.  If you don’t mind the mess, you can put it on slightly warm cookies, just remember it will run off. I never have patience to let stuff cool, so that is why you see the glaze on the plate.

Citrus Glaze

Dairy Free, Soy Free, Gluten Free Dessert Glaze

  • 1 Cup Powdered Sugar
  • 1/2 of a Lemon zested
  • 1 tsp. + fresh Lemon Juice
  • 1  TBSP. Orange Juice

Put it into a medium bowl and whisk well.  Can add a little more Orange or Lemon Juice slowly, if needed.

Drizzle over cooled cookies.

I came up with this citrus glaze from doing a food review for Bob’s Red Mill Shortbread Cookie Mix, which is the cookie you see here.
