I love the fresh undertones of lemon and ginger in this green blended drink. I feel like it gives my body a radiant glow inside and out when I juice. Especially with eating clean and using fresh organic veggies and fruits.
I have noticed when my friends have seen me carrying my green juices they tend to have a disgusted look on their face and ask me what I am doing. Well it is called eating healthy or should I say drinking healthy. Not only does it taste good, it is super easy to prep and blend, but it also allows my body to consume raw, unprocessed real food in straw form. I mean who doesn’t love to use a colored straw?
When I talk about eating healthy or juicing, I have noticed my family and friends do that whole head nod, “uh huh” half listening thing. They don’t get it. But watch their eyes open wide when I talk about a juicy bacon burger or gooey cookie, which I still eat at times but in moderation. Sometimes I think I really need to stop trying to inform people about making healthier choices. Let them figure it out or not, it is up to them. Unfortunately, most of us only care when something has happened to our body, that we don’t like or that is making us sick. Then I remember, I have a blog for a reason. I hope to inspire, encourage, lightly inform people to realize this kind of food is good for you and actually tastes good. I know there are many people that think, I am not going to like this. Sadly they don’t try it, ever. They continue to eat all that processed chemical crap, and further hurt their already sick bodies. Please don’t be one of them. Give healthy a try, after all I am not asking you to be perfect, and cut out all sugar, grains, etc. I don’t, so why would I ask you to? I just ask that you allow healthy into your lives, you never know where it will take you. As an example, you may start with one juice a day, and start to cut down on meat. That doesn’t sound so hard, does it? Or another example would be to start eating salads for lunch 3-5 times a week, and cut down on the dressing by having it put on the side. Still not so disagreeable, right? You could do it, you absolutely have the capability to make positive changes in your life. Whatever you choose, start with the intention of starting something new, and not have an end goal just yet. Our intention in doing this is not a diet, or temporary way to lose weight, although I would be surprised if you ate truly healthier and didn’t lose weight (although it has happened to me, and I was put on a special cleanse from my Naturopathic Medical Doctor that helped me). The deliberateness is to begin incorporating better choices, consuming fresh produce, becoming aware of what we put into our bodies and giving ourselves the love and education it needs to thrive.
Notice how in the above pick you see a Container of the ingredients. I will wash enough for two days worth of juice, and pack half of it for the next day, in a glass container with tight fitting lid. Freshly washed produce, especially Organic, can spoil quickly, so I don’t go past 2 days worth of washed items for storing. But I do love the fact that I only wash the cutting board, fruit and veggies, and knife one time and can have up to 3 days(including the day of washing) worth of breakfast, ready to blend.
Helpful tip- I will squeeze a little lemon juice on the apple pieces to keep from browning.
- 2 1/2 Cups filtered water
- 2 Cups washed Organic Spinach
- ~10 sprigs washed Organic Parsley
- 1 small wedge (1/6 of lemon) Organic Lemon
- 1 inch pc. Ginger peeled
- 1 Organic Apple washed and cored
- 1 large Organic Carrot washed and peeled
Put the ingredients in the blender, in the order given and blend to desired consistency. Drink up!
